Hardware and game library
The original Switch combines a tablet, detachable Joy-Con controllers and a TV dock. The later battery-life revision retains the same basic game library. Switch Lite is handheld-only, while OLED changes the display, stand, storage and dock. None of these is the separate Switch 2 generation.
Choosing the right model
Choose by play mode before colour. Lite cannot output to a TV. Check Joy-Con rails and sticks, the USB-C connection and whether a dock and original-rated power supply are included. Bundles may contain download codes that have already been redeemed. A seller showing game artwork on a box does not prove the licence transfers.
Model and edition registry
Selected documented models and editions. This registry does not yet include every regional SKU, promotional unit or limited edition.
The revised model number matters: do not apply this battery estimate automatically to the earlier HAC-001. Standard Switch, OLED and Lite share a family name but have different screens, storage and output arrangements. The colour of detachable Joy-Con is not a reliable identifier of the tablet revision.
Model and package identifiers in manufacturer documentation
A hardware model number is different from a retailer SKU, barcode or serial number. These are the codes explicitly named in the linked manufacturer documents. The region identifies the documentation archive; it does not establish exclusive sale in that country.
Match the full label on the console and its box. A shared family number alone does not authenticate a special-edition shell, identify every bundle accessory or establish current repair eligibility.
GTA editions to check for this hardware
These links match the release-platform labels in our GTA catalogue. Open the game guide for its edition and sources. This is not a complete backwards-compatibility list or a guarantee of current store availability.
Images identify the pictured hardware; they are not evidence for every variant listed. Missing regional SKUs and undocumented editions remain outside this guide. Send a correction with a source.
