Hardware and game library

Wii centres on motion controls. Wii Remote Plus incorporates MotionPlus functionality that originally required an accessory. The Nunchuk connects to the Remote, and the Sensor Bar supports pointing. A game may require specific accessories rather than every available controller.

Choosing the right model

Original models with GameCube ports support a different set of games and accessories from Family Edition and Wii mini. Inspect the exact model, battery contacts and drive. Do not price a used console around access to historical download stores or services without checking their present status.

Model details and evidence

Motion controls are a system of accessories

A complete setup depends on the game, not simply the presence of a Wii Remote. Check whether the game needs MotionPlus, a Nunchuk or another input device. Nintendo’s later history page illustrates Wii Remote Plus; that does not mean every 2006 launch package contained that later controller.

Supporting documentation

Model and package identifiers in manufacturer documentation

A hardware model number is different from a retailer SKU, barcode or serial number. These are the codes explicitly named in the linked manufacturer documents. The region identifies the documentation archive; it does not establish exclusive sale in that country.

Match the full label on the console and its box. A shared family number alone does not authenticate a special-edition shell, identify every bundle accessory or establish current repair eligibility.

GTA editions to check for this hardware

This hardware record does not yet have a verified GTA compatibility entry. Check the GTA release-platform catalogue before buying it for a particular game. Do not assume support through emulation, streaming or backwards compatibility.
