Hardware and game library

Micro reduces GBA to a small horizontal system. The display keeps GBA pixel dimensions at a smaller physical size. Unlike GBA and SP, it cannot run original Game Boy or Game Boy Color cartridges. This compatibility difference is more important than its case colour.

Choosing the right model

Check the faceplate, shoulder buttons, charging socket and headphone jack. Link accessories are model-specific. Compare the small display with SP before choosing it for text-heavy games. A replacement faceplate should be identified as such in a collector listing.

Model details and evidence

Small screen, specific cartridge generation

Micro is substantially smaller than the original GBA but still displays GBA software at its original pixel resolution. Nintendo’s compatibility description is for GBA cartridges. The smaller accessory connector also means that link play needs the appropriate cable or adapter rather than an assumption of universal GBA accessory fit.
