Hardware and game library
GBA adds a wider display and shoulder buttons. Its original unlit screen makes ambient lighting important. Selected games link to GameCube using a dedicated cable, but that depends on the games and accessory. It also retains compatibility with older Game Boy cartridges.
Choosing the right model
Test shoulder buttons and inspect the battery contacts. IPS screens and rechargeable modifications change the original configuration and should be identified. Request shell and battery-compartment photographs when authenticity matters. An aftermarket upgrade is not the same thing as a factory limited edition.
Model and edition registry
Selected documented models and editions. This registry does not yet include every regional SKU, promotional unit or limited edition.
This is the unlit horizontal model rather than the folding SP. Its headphone socket is built in, and its reflective screen depends on surrounding light. A modern bright backlit screen in a listing is therefore a modification to investigate, not proof of a factory limited edition.
These links match the release-platform labels in our GTA catalogue. Open the game guide for its edition and sources. This is not a complete backwards-compatibility list or a guarantee of current store availability.
Images identify the pictured hardware; they are not evidence for every variant listed. Missing regional SKUs and undocumented editions remain outside this guide. Send a correction with a source.
