Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two starts on Tuesday 3 November 2026, according to SEGA. The 2.0.0 update adds a 1v1 Duel Mode, a seventh gadget slot and 15 new gadgets, while free racer Bayonetta and the first Season Pass Two pack, Godzilla, are dated for the same day. SEGA hasn't published an unlock time, and its Asia pages list some of the follow-up content for 4 November.

The roadmap was first shown at the World Championship Finals on 9 October. What's new this week is that the date has arrived, and Nintendo Life has the 2.0.0 patch notes preview from SEGA's community team. Below is what's confirmed, what each edition costs in US dollars and where the details still conflict.

What 2.0.0 adds on day one

Duel Mode is the headline. Two racers go head to head, and a new Duel Boost gauge fills over time and with item use, then spends on a large burst of speed. You can see your opponent's items, gadgets and race position. SEGA's announcement lists four ways to play: Rival Duel (offline against CPU racers, with a special machine as the reward), Duel Match Free Match (online, random opponents), Duel Match Best-of-10 (limited-time online events with Duel Class ranks and Medals) and Friend Match with custom rules.

Gadgets get a new tier. The Grand Master Plate adds a seventh "Super Slot" that amplifies the boosted effect of any one-slot gadget, and 15 new gadgets arrive on day one. Free and paid characters released after launch now also appear as CPU racers online and offline.

According to Nintendo Life's preview, the update also changes online PvP balance, shortens the time for rings to reappear, adds daily Play Missions that pay out tickets and medals, bookmarking and filters for gadgets, and a Sega Fighting Beats Infinity music album. Festivals now run for ten days, and rankings switch to Winning Streak Rankings. Those extra details come from a SEGA video summary rather than full written notes, so treat the list as a preview.

Prices in USD

SEGA cut the digital base-game price permanently when it announced Year Two. These are the official US figures from SEGA's Steam announcement; the Steam store page matches them for the standard and deluxe editions.

Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition

Year One Edition (physical)

SEGA's own advice is blunt: if you already own the base game or the Digital Deluxe Edition, buy Season Pass Two or individual packs, not the Year Two edition, because you'd pay for a second copy of the game. The same purchase guide states that the original Deluxe Edition does not include Season Pass Two.

The Deluxe Edition dispute

Some players argue that the original Deluxe Edition promised "all future paid downloadable content" in a June 2025 post, so Year Two should be free for them. VGC reported that it asked SEGA for comment; we haven't found a public SEGA response, and the purchase guide above points the other way. Nothing has changed for owners so far.

Confirmed and unconfirmed

Confirmed: Year Two starts 3 November; Duel Mode, the Grand Master Plate and 15 gadgets arrive on day one; Bayonetta and the Godzilla Pack are dated 3 November; the USD prices above.

Not confirmed: the exact unlock time on each platform and whether regions get the patch on different days. SEGA's Asia pages put the Godzilla Pack and a bonus-content patch on 4 November, which may simply reflect the local date, but SEGA hasn't said so. Final McLaren and Festival dates are also unannounced. We'll update this page when SEGA posts the time.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One and Switch. DLC arrives through the game's normal update flow; our guide to finding and installing purchased DLC covers the store steps on each system, and upgrading to a Switch 2 Edition explains the Switch 2 versions. Console details are on our Switch 2 and PS5 pages.
