PUBG: Battlegrounds is getting a live-action TV series at Netflix. Variety reported the deal on 29 October 2026 at 10:30 am PT (17:30 UTC, 1:30 pm ET), and Krafton confirmed it in a press release dated 30 October in Japan. Donald Glover will direct, write, executive produce and star, while his brother Stephen Glover writes and executive produces.
No release date, episode count, plot or further cast has been announced. What is confirmed is the team and the platform.

Who is making it
Beyond the Glovers, the executive producers are Michael Schaefer of Neon TV, Fam Udeorji of Gilga (the Glovers' production company) and Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee of LV3H. LV3H is Krafton's own entertainment division, and Krafton says it is handling development and production on its side, so the publisher keeps a direct hand in how its game is adapted.
Donald Glover is best known for creating and starring in Atlanta, and the Glover brothers worked together on that show. Neither Netflix nor Krafton has said whether the series will follow a single character, an ensemble of players, or the battle royale setup itself, where 100 players parachute onto an island and fight to be the last one standing.
Why PUBG, and why now
PUBG launched in 2017 and helped turn the battle royale into one of the biggest genres in gaming. Krafton says the game holds seven Guinness World Records. It has been free to play since 2022 and is still one of the most-played games on Steam, while PUBG Mobile reaches a far larger audience on phones.
The series also adds to Netflix's growing slate of game adaptations, which includes Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, alongside announced Assassin's Creed and Gears of War projects. For Krafton, it's a push to build PUBG into a wider entertainment brand rather than a single game.
