Hardware and game library
Mega Drive and Genesis are regional names for Sega’s 16-bit console family. Mega-CD and 32X are separate add-ons with their own compatibility and power requirements; buying a base console does not provide their game support.
Choosing the right model
Check the region, video standard and exact power connector. Accessories and AV leads can differ between revisions. Ask for a running cartridge demonstration and inspect the cartridge slot. A complete multi-add-on setup needs matching cables and power supplies, not just the plastic hardware.
Model and edition registry
Selected documented models and editions. This registry does not yet include every regional SKU, promotional unit or limited edition.
Sega documents Mega Drive 2, Mega Jet and the PC-integrated TeraDrive as related hardware variations. The family photograph shows a North American Genesis Model 2, not HAA-2500. The original Japanese specifications and box contents must therefore not be assigned to the photographed revision.

This hardware record does not yet have a verified GTA compatibility entry. Check the GTA release-platform catalogue before buying it for a particular game. Do not assume support through emulation, streaming or backwards compatibility.
