Where Winds Meet's next big update, Hutuo, arrives on Friday 13 November 2026 alongside the game's first global anniversary update. NetEase Games and developer Everstone Studio announced it on 27 October on the PlayStation Blog. Hutuo is a new war-torn frontier region built around the battle of Zhongdu Bridge. The anniversary update also adds two board-game modes, Horse Racing Chess and Jianghu Tactics, plus what the team calls its most generous rewards since launch. A new Dual Spears martial art, choreographed by action director Yuen Woo-ping, follows in late November, and a First Anniversary Special Broadcast on 2 November will show more. The game stays free-to-play.
Here's every confirmed detail, the dates in one place, how to play it in India and what hasn't been announced yet, including the exact update time in IST.

What NetEase announced
In the post, Eric Zheng, head of Where Winds Meet publishing, calls Hutuo "the most climactic narrative arc in Where Winds Meet yet" and "a major turning point" for the game. The story is set at a "desperate historical crossroads": northern invaders are crossing the border, frontline defences are breaking and old pacts have collapsed. Players have to choose between obeying "a crumbling throne" and standing with sworn companions to protect civilians.
Everstone says it changed its world design for this region to make "an authentic, mud-and-steel warzone unlike anything seen in the game before." Quests show the war from different viewpoints. One has you play a soldier defying brutal orders. In another you hear displaced survivors singing in the river reeds, and in another ordinary people risk their lives to hide refugees at night.

Dual Spears, by Yuen Woo-ping
Yuen Woo-ping is the action director behind fight scenes in films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. His Dual Spears style alternates between Light Spears for offence and Heavy Spears that break enemy stances. Using both builds a resource called Spear Stance, which feeds into what the team calls "relentless combo loops." It's due in late November, after Hutuo, not on 13 November.
PS5 and PS5 Pro upgrades
The post lists technical changes for PlayStation players that arrive with Hutuo:
PS5 Pro: enhanced PSSR upscaling with upgraded ray-traced reflections, at what the team calls a stable 60 FPS.
DualSense: adaptive trigger and haptic feedback for bows and blade clashes.
Performance: fewer frame hitches in effects-heavy fights.
Loading: asynchronous asset streaming to cut load times at fast-travel points, dungeons and cutscene transitions.
These are NetEase's own claims. We'll be able to check them once the update is out.

What it means for players in India
Where Winds Meet is free-to-play, so the update costs nothing to download. In India the simplest ways to play are on PC through Steam (listed as free on Steam India) or the Epic Games Store, on PS5, or on Xbox Series X|S. NetEase's global iOS and Android versions launched on 12 December 2025 with cross-play and cross-progression. But when we searched the Indian App Store on 28 October 2026, the game didn't appear in the results. So if you want to play on your phone, check your app store first, and don't assume mobile is an option in India.
Platform | Status for Indian players (checked 28 Oct 2026) | Price |
|---|---|---|
PC (Steam) | Listed on Steam India | Free-to-play |
PC (Epic Games Store) | On Epic since the global launch, per Gematsu | Free-to-play |
PS5 / PS5 Pro | On PlayStation Store; Hutuo brings PS5 Pro upgrades | Free-to-play |
Xbox Series X|S | Added in June 2026 | Free-to-play |
iOS / Android | Global launch 12 Dec 2025; not found in our Indian App Store search | Free-to-play |

NetEase hasn't said when on 13 November the update goes live. Online games like this usually take servers down for maintenance first, so the update could reach India during the day or evening of the 13th in IST. We'll add the exact IST time once NetEase posts it.

How to get ready for Hutuo, step by step
Install the game. Download Where Winds Meet for free from Steam or the Epic Games Store on PC (see our Epic Games Launcher install guide), from the PlayStation Store on PS5, or from the Microsoft Store on Xbox Series X|S (our Xbox install guide covers the steps).
Free up storage. A new region means a big patch. Clear some space before 13 November so the update doesn't stall.
Keep auto-updates on. On PS5, leave the console in rest mode with automatic updates turned on so the patch downloads by itself. If it gets stuck, see our PS5 download stuck fix.
Watch the 2 November broadcast. It's where NetEase will show Hutuo gameplay and likely more details on rewards and timing.
Log in during the anniversary. Anniversary rewards in live games are often time-limited. Check the in-game events page after the update to claim them.
Plan for Dual Spears. The new martial art comes later in November, so you'll need to update again then.
Background: a year of Where Winds Meet
Where Winds Meet is a free-to-play open-world wuxia action RPG set in ancient China. It first launched on PC in China in December 2024, then went global on PC and PS5 on 14 November 2025. NetEase said it passed 9 million players within weeks of the global launch, according to its mobile launch announcement. The iOS and Android versions followed on 12 December 2025, and Inven Global reports that Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud versions arrived on 8 June 2026.
In August 2026, NetEase announced that the game had passed 100 million players worldwide. That's a cumulative figure across China and global versions on all platforms, not a count of active players. The PlayStation Blog post also mentions that the game won Best Mobile Game at Gamescom this year. Hidden Mountain Chapter 3, the final part of the previous storyline, was scheduled for 16 September 2026 in that announcement, which makes Hutuo the next major story step.
