Stellar Blade guide: what it is, history and which version to buy (Switch 2, PS5, PC)

In brief: Stellar Blade is SHIFT UP’s sci-fi action game starring EVE, a soldier sent to reclaim a ruined Earth. It launched on PS5 in April 2024 and on PC in June 2025, and the Complete Edition arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 November 2026 at 15:00 UTC (7 a.m. PST, 10 a.m. EST, 8:30 p.m. IST). The Switch 2 version costs $59.99 / £54.99 / €59.99, digital or physical, and includes all DLC. On PS5 and PC, the Complete Edition costs more than Standard ($89.99 and $79.99), while Switch 2 owners get everything for $59.99.

What is Stellar Blade?

Stellar Blade is a third-person action-adventure game developed by SHIFT UP, the Seoul studio behind the mobile game GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE. You play as EVE, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad sent from an orbital colony to win back Earth from monsters called the Naytiba. On the surface she meets Adam and Lily, and the trio base themselves in Xion, the last city on Earth.

The game mixes fast, parry-heavy sword combat with exploration of semi-open areas such as the Wasteland and the Great Desert. Boss fights reward reading attacks and timing parries and dodges, so players often compare it with Sekiro and NieR:Automata. You upgrade EVE through skill trees and collect outfits, and a story-focused difficulty setting is available if you want to focus on the plot. It is a single-player game with no multiplayer mode.

History: from Project EVE to Switch 2

SHIFT UP first showed the game as Project EVE in 2019, planned for consoles and PC. It later became a PlayStation 5 console exclusive published with Sony Interactive Entertainment, was renamed Stellar Blade in 2022, and launched on PS5 on 26 April 2024, as announced on the PlayStation Blog.

The PC version followed on 11 June 2025 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with PlayStation Publishing as the Steam publisher outside China. A few days later SHIFT UP announced that total sales had passed three million, and reports said the PC version sold one million copies in its first three days. Along the way, free updates added a Photo Mode and new outfits, and paid collaborations with NieR:Automata and GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE followed.

On 10 September 2026 SHIFT UP confirmed the Stellar Blade Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, with a simultaneous worldwide release on 6 November 2026 at 00:00 KST/JST. That is 5 November in the Americas, Europe and India. SHIFT UP is the publisher for the Switch 2 version. A free Bayonetta collaboration of four outfits for EVE arrives on Switch 2, PS5 and PC at the same moment.

What is in the Complete Edition?

According to SHIFT UP’s press release, the Switch 2 Complete Edition includes:

• The full base game.

• All previously released content, including the NieR:Automata and GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE collaboration DLC.

• Complete Edition bonuses: the Stargazer outfit set for EVE, Adam and Lily; Half-Rim Glasses, Quadruple Rectangle Earring and the Planet Diving Suit (Captain) for EVE; Stargazer and Fluffy Bear packs for the drone; 2,000 SP EXP and 5,000 Gold.

Pre-ordering on Switch 2 also gives an early unlock of the Planet Diving Suit (White Edition), Classic Round Glasses and Ear Armor Earrings. Nintendo’s store page notes that some included content becomes available only after you progress through the main story.

Which version should you buy?

• You own a Switch 2 and want to play handheld: buy the Switch 2 Complete Edition. It is the cheapest way to get all the DLC, and the physical cartridge holds the whole game.

• You want the best image quality and frame rate: PS5 or a strong PC. SHIFT UP had not published Switch 2 resolution or frame-rate targets during our check, so treat performance there as unconfirmed until reviews arrive.

• You only want to try it: PlayStation Store lists a Game Trial for PS5, which is a PlayStation Plus Premium benefit. No Switch 2 demo was listed during our check.

• You already own it on PS5 or PC: you do not need the Switch 2 version. The Bayonetta outfits are free on all three platforms.

Are there Stellar Blade cheats?

No. Stellar Blade has no official cheat codes on any platform, and we do not publish unverified lists. The official ways to make it easier are the story-focused difficulty setting, upgrading EVE’s skills and gear, and the Complete Edition’s bonus SP and Gold. Avoid PC trainers that ask you to disable antivirus software.

For players in India

Nintendo has no official eShop in India, so there is no official INR price for the Switch 2 version. Physical imports are sold by local retailers at their own prices, which we have not verified (unconfirmed). On PlayStation Store India, Standard costs Rs 4,999 and the Complete Edition Rs 6,899. On Steam India they cost ₹4,799 and ₹6,399. The Switch 2 version unlocks at 8:30 p.m. IST on Thursday 5 November 2026, the same moment as everywhere else.
