The short buying answer
Our recommendation is Standard if you mainly want the game. Consider Ultimate only after reading its named extras and deciding you want them. This is buying advice based on the published contents, not a review of unreleased content. Checked 26 October 2026.

Standard digital: base game. Ultimate digital: base game plus Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Boxed Standard: a redemption code rather than a disc, with a separate upgrade route. Preorder offers should be checked independently of edition contents.

GTA+ on PlayStation: claim it separately
PlayStation’s offer requires an eligible digital purchase before 20 November 2026. Visit the GTA+ product page after purchase and complete the claim by 31 March 2027. The offer is once per account; existing subscribers can add the month after claiming.
The membership renews into a paid subscription unless cancelled before its next payment date. Check the date shown during the claim and use subscription management if you do not want renewal. Buying the game and claiming the membership are separate transactions.
India and UAE: check code region before buying
Rockstar’s redemption guidance places India and the UAE in different PlayStation code groups. Do not assume a boxed code sold in one will redeem on an account registered in the other. Its Xbox guidance says codes are not region-locked, but the actual seller’s product and redemption instructions still need checking.
Preload, delivery and play are different dates
Rockstar schedules preload for local midnight on 12 November 2026. A retailer’s shipping or collection date does not guarantee the code is already in your account. Redeem an eligible code when received, then check the download status on the console. Preloading is not permission to play early.
