Phantom Blade Zero reached an all-time peak of 723,876 concurrent players on Steam on its launch day, Thursday 29 October 2026, according to SteamDB data reported by KeenGamer and other outlets. Outlets tracking Steam data called it the highest peak for a single-player game released on Steam this year. The wuxia action RPG also carries an 88 on Metacritic, the score shown on its Steam page.
The game unlocked worldwide at 02:00 UTC on 29 October (10:00 p.m. ET on 28 October) on PS5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. On Steam in the US the Standard Edition costs $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition $69.99.

What the numbers do and don't tell us
The 723,876 figure is a concurrent player peak: the most people playing on Steam at one moment. It isn't a sales number, and it leaves out PS5 and the Epic Games Store entirely, so the real launch-day audience was larger. S-GAME itself hasn't published sales or player totals.
The only sales figures so far are estimates. Market-intelligence firm Alinea Analytics estimated about 850,000 pre-launch copies on Steam and PS5, worth about $43 million, with 62.5% of those copies sold in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. IGN, citing Alinea, put worldwide pre-launch sales near one million once China's WeGame store is included. Treat both as third-party estimates, not official totals.

What S-GAME said at launch

In a launch letter on Steam titled "Reason and Madness", creative director Soulframe Liang said the studio cancelled its other projects to focus on Phantom Blade Zero after its 2023 PlayStation Showcase reveal. He described thousands of hours of motion capture, 3D scans of towns and mountain villages across China, and fight choreography guided by action director Yang Liu with input from Donnie Yen.
The game was first dated for 9 September 2026 and then delayed by 50 days to 29 October. On PC it needs about 145 GB, and S-GAME asked players to keep 300 GB free during the pre-load and to install on an SSD.
