Monster Hunter Outlanders, the mobile Monster Hunter game made by Tencent's TiMi Studio Group under licence from Capcom, is now live on iOS and Android. It is free to play with in-app purchases. Servers opened at 22:00 UTC on Wednesday 28 October 2026 (6:00 PM ET, 3:00 PM PT), which was already Thursday 29 October, the official launch date, across Asia.

Capcom says the game is out worldwide except mainland China, where a separate version is planned for 2027 or later. You can hunt solo or in squads of up to four players.

What is in the launch version

  • Eight weapon types: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. The Charge Blade, which switches between Sword Mode and Axe Mode, is new with the launch build. TiMi says more weapon types will come in updates.

  • A new island, Aesoland: its "Radiant" monsters have been changed by the local environment. The headline monster is a new Elder Dragon, Ruger Aidal.

  • Adventurers and Buddies: each weapon pairs with a named Adventurer who adds follow-up moves. Three Buddy types, Palico, Rutaco and Trillan, hunt alongside you.

  • Controller support: TiMi says all major hunting actions work with a controller.

  • Launch event: a challenge event for the playable Adventurer Midori started at launch.

Background

Capcom announced the date on 29 September, saying it wants to use its biggest series to win new players in the growing mobile market. Monster Hunter has sold more than 131 million units since 2004, as of 30 June 2026. Outlanders is separate from Monster Hunter Now, Niantic's location-based game. What is still unconfirmed

  • The full country list. Capcom has only said mainland China is excluded for now.

  • Prices of in-app purchases. Neither Capcom nor TiMi listed them, and we have not verified store prices.

  • Which weapons come next, and when.
