Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Starts 6 Nov With X01 and Zodiac

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's first season goes live at 05:00 UTC on Friday 6 November (midnight ET on 6 November, 9 PM PT on 5 November), Activision said in its Season 1 briefing on 28 October. It is the first major free update since the game launched last week.

Season 1 adds three Multiplayer maps at launch, a new DMZ location called X01, and two new Call of Duty: Warzone maps, Hajin and Zodiac, as Modern Warfare 4 is fully integrated with the free-to-play battle royale. Verdansk and Rebirth Island also return.

US and UK clocks will have moved back from daylight saving time by 6 November, so ET is UTC-5 and the UK is on GMT.

Multiplayer

• Backstab (new, 6v6): a snowy, war-torn town with abandoned tanks and long sightlines.

• Canyon (new, 6v6): sun-scorched rock walls, a river route and a central mesa.

• Shoot House (reimagined, 6v6): the classic three-lane layout moved to North Korea in light snow.

• Modes at launch: Grind and Drop Zone return, and Gauntlet 1v1 Gunfight arrives through the Wager Match event.

• Mid-season: Ministry and Overflow maps plus a Counter Attack mode.

Before the season, Possession (a Halloween party mode where you take over the players you eliminate) arrives on 29 October and Infected returns on 30 October.

DMZ: the X01 Black Site

X01 is a former GRANIT Arms weapons facility on Hajin's northern border, now held by North Korean forces. Activision describes cargo bays, underground labs, production lines and a sealed Deep Vault connected by tunnels. Extraction points close as a run goes on, so squads have to finish set steps to get out.

Ghost guides new DMZ Orders. The Forward Operating Base gets a Battle Pass and store station, a vendor selling extra gear for DMZ Cash (BlackCell owners only), and a Boss Board with intel on two lieutenants. Events include Threat Briefing, which targets Commanders, DMZ's biggest boss threats, and Resupply Runs, where squads trade specific loot for gear.

Weapons and Battle Pass

The Battle Pass adds the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 SMG, with the JAK 12 shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee axe later in the season. The pass costs 1,100 COD Points and the Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points. A new catch-up system automatically unlocks premium rewards up to the current day of the season, up to day 50.

What is not confirmed yet

Activision has not detailed Warzone's Season 1 modes or how Hajin and Zodiac play. It says a separate Warzone roadmap post is coming on the Call of Duty blog on Monday 2 November. The exact Season 1 patch size has not been announced.
