Crimson Desert's expansion, Charting the Unknown, unlocks worldwide at 22:00 UTC on Thursday 29 October 2026 (6:00 PM ET, 3:00 PM PT) on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Pearl Abyss says. It costs $24.99 on Steam, the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store, and needs the base game.

The DLC adds the ocean around Pywel, with diving and underwater areas, ships you can build and sail, romance and marriage, claimable castles, an upgraded housing system, businesses to run and a boss-rush mode. Much of it is locked behind main-story progress, so check where your save is before you buy.

What you need to unlock each part

  • Ocean storyline: opens after the main-story quest "Howling Hill".

  • Ships: the ship questline opens once you have set up your Greymane Camp at Howling Hill. You can then build a ship by sending comrades on a ship-building dispatch mission at a port, or buy one from a Fleet Office manager.

  • Character stories: new storylines for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane start from the Journal menu after you finish the main story.

  • Castles and Garden of Trials: three castles can be claimed after the main story and related quests. Garden of Trials, a run of bosses fought one after another, opens after the main questline.

  • Diving: no conditions, though staying underwater uses breath. Gear such as a diving suit extends your time.

Background

Crimson Desert launched on 19 March 2026. Charting the Unknown was originally due two weeks earlier. On 30 September Pearl Abyss moved it to 29 October, saying it needed more time to deliver "a more polished and stable gameplay experience".

What is still unconfirmed

  • Patch notes. Pearl Abyss says it will publish them on release day. They were not out when we published.

  • Which regions are excluded. After a content and age-rating review, Pearl Abyss said the DLC will not be sold in certain markets but did not name them.

  • A Mac App Store release. Pearl Abyss says the DLC will not be on the Mac App Store at launch, and it will announce any future Mac plans separately.
